Terms and Conditions
The Vehicles
Our vehicles are NOT new, just really nice. No matter what your budget, we believe everyone deserves to drive something nice. Vehicles are well maintained, presented and affordable. The term ‘moderate’ mileage generally refers to less than 100,000 km travelled. From time to time as vehicles no longer fit the operational guidelines of Drive Something Nice, they may be offered under the, 'A little older, a little cheaper' category at reduced rates.
Drivers Licences
Minimum driving age 21 years. All drivers of the rental vehicle must produce, prior to the commencement of hire, a current New Zealand, or English language driver's licence. Other driver's licences are happily accepted with a validated English translation. All current International Licences are accepted.
Minimum hire period & one way hires
The minimum period of hire is 7 days, however you may inquire about shorter hires (these are subject to special rates and availability of vehicles). Vehicles may be hired between any two of our depots at no additional one way charge, subject to availability
Period of Hire
The period of hire is calculated on a 24 hr basis from the time of pick up to the time of drop off on a daily or part thereof basis. If a vehicle is returned late, you may be charged for an extra day (or days, if more than one).
Rental Rates
Nice & easy…. One low rate all year round. No confusing grids or split seasons. Although we offer the ease of one fixed rate, from time to time depending on your travel date or the duration of your hire, we offer, ‘Free’ days. Please ask when making your booking if you qualify for ‘Free’ days with your next hire. Our standard daily rates all include unlimited mileage, insurance and GST.
Rental Agreement
When collecting your vehicle, you will be asked to sign a standard car rental agreement, which outlines the terms and conditions that apply to the hire of your vehicle. This is a requirement by law.

Insurance Excess / Bond
The cost of insurance for your vehicle is included in the daily rate. You are however liable for an insurance excess of $NZ2000 in the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle. This excess is held as a bond for the duration of the hire, or may be reduced to NZ$250 by payment of a non-refundable waiver of $NZ15 per day of hire ($NZ105 minimum). We strongly recommend visitors to our shores to carry some form of Travel Insurance, which includes the provision for rental vehicle excess cover.
Note: The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident is reported. The excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the costs of damages from the third party. Damage caused by the incorrect use or fitting of snow chains and ski racks is not covered by any insurance option. Damage to vehicle under body and roof is not covered by any insurance option. All insurance options shall be deemed null and void if the rental agreement terms and conditions are breached.
